Hello everybody,
How is your world today? If the above article at the Wall Street Journal is anywhere near correct, you are in a lousy mood. I know I am in a lousy mood.
I'm paraphrasing the WSJ article when I say the we the people are really pissed off.
Survey's show that the number 1 priority for our senators and representatives is to fix the health care system. The costs are too high, and are continuing to spiral out of sight. Yet when we tell our representatives to fix it, they do nothing, and I mean nothing. But they sure can raise their own pay, and they have fully paid health care, so they don't have to worry about it.
Let's take away their paid for healthcare and see if they like it. I bet they won't.
Another major issue is the War in Iraq. There appears to be no progress in that war, so people want the troops home, and I don't blame them. On the other hand, I prefer that we fight the terrorists in another country and not ours. Remember 9/11? I do, and I didn't like it.
Folks let's keep in mind that the public threats made by the terrorists about attacking the United States are not empty. The terrorists have the will and the means with which to attack us.
You all hope that Homeland Security will keep that from happening, well don't bet on it. You can bet there are dedicated people doing their best to protect us, but we have thousands of miles of open waterfront and wide open borders, that leak illegal immigrants all of the time.
In spite of what you hear from the news media not all of the worlds people dislike us, but that is what the United States Press wants you to believe. Not to say that there aren't a lot of people that dislike us, because there are. But there are a hell of a lot of other people in the world that look at us as the land of opportunity, and thousands upon thousands come to this country every day and prove that they are right. They start to work at the menial jobs, then when they get enough money together, they start their own business, and start becoming legal immigrants.
I know that a lot of you are saying that is not right, we have to stop it. Well consider this, our country has been built by immigrants from its inception and it continues to be built by the addition of new immigrants, legal and illegal. I don't say it is right, it is just the way it is.
What am I leading up to, well as I drive around the community I see people walking for one reason or another, but none of them are smiling. I also see a lot of people at my job and most of the time people are not smiling. When you ask them how they are, they say, "I'm tired." or "Not very good." When I ask how the world is treating them, they say, "not too good." or "Lousy."
My question is this, "How can we get our spirits up? How can we turn things around so that we aren't such doomsayers?"
If any of you have any ideas, l would love to hear them.
That's all for now.
gahillbilly.
