Cooking for myself.

If you follow me at all on my blog, you know that I am alone and of course having to cook for myself. Fortunately, I am a pretty good cook and I tend to start from scratch and or am selective in what I cook.

For example; tonight I fixed my own version of hamburger helper. Why you ask don't I just buy the prepared mixes, well for one they are too expensive per meal served and have to many additives I can't pronounce nor understand, thus I fix my own.

The recipe I fixed tonight was tasty and will provide me with at least three dinners.
Ingredients:

1 1/2 cups of pasta such as macaroni, shells, or ziti or combo of any of each.
1 can of zesty hot chili beans, store brand is fine.
1 can of italian flavored tomatoes.
1 or 2 bratwurst sausages sliced up.
1 small can of tomato sauce.
salt/pepper/onion flakes/garlic powder too taste.
about 8 ozs of V8 or tomato juice.

Cook pasta as required, drain.
brown sliced sausage and drain off excess grease.
add chili beans, tomato sauce, italian tomatoes, and V8 or tomato juice.
add spices to taste.
simmer until hot and tasty.
serve with biscuits, garlic bread, and green salad if desired.
Serves3 to 4 people depending on appetite of individual.

God Bless us all.
