A MACRO VIEW OF TODAY'S TECHNOLOGY'S.
I have been giving a lot of thought to the technology we have available to us today and the possible and even probable impact it will have on our world, and our lives.I will preface this article with the fact that we have over 7 billion people currently living on our planet. As a result we are overtaxing the ability of the planet to cope with this many people. I am not going to get on my soapbox, because there are too many other people doing so.
What I do see happening are major changes in the source of and in the use of energy itself.
Many of you are wondering what I am talking about.
To begin with, we are seeing a major change in where our energy is coming from.Worldwide we are seeing major investments in wind farms and tidal generators. Also, major investments are being made in solar panel collectors. The solar farms and collectors are being implemented because their costs are dropping significantly. Guess who is the major contributor in causing the drop in solar panels, it is China, that's who.
On the other hand we are now seeing a major change in the type of light bulb being used in homes, stores, office buildings, and street lamps. All of them use substantially less energy then the current incandescent bulb uses.
Add to all of this the constant improvements in the efficiency and gas mileage of automobiles, trucks, buses, and airplanes. All of these improvements are helping to reduce the emissions and other pollutants in the air.
Further improvements are taking place in the reduction of pollutants from coal burning power plants.
Just these items give me hope that our planet and our home will remain livable for a long, long time.
God Bless our Planet from the gahillbilly.

Many have taken to blaming suburbia for many of the issues with the ozone due to vehicle emissions as people commute to their job. What are your thoughts about this?
ReplyDeleteI think that the major improvements made in engine technology over the past 15 years have reduced emissions to near zero levels, thus providing a significant reduction for the USA and Canada. Unfortunately, mainland China has screwed us over with it's total disregard of carbon emissions over the last 50 years. Only in the last 4 years has China suddenly realized that they must make major changes in order to make our world still somewhat human friendly. Will the human race make it, I'm not sure. We can only hope we will make. Amen.
