And here is another Birthday!!

I'M CELEBRATING MY 79th BIRTHDAY ON PRESIDENT'S DAY.

Having my birthday fall on President's Day this year is a singular honor. It doesn't happen very often. And no I'm not even going to try and figure out how many times it has happened in my life time.

I look back to when I was born early in the last Century, 1936 to be exact, and I am now 15 years into the 21st Century. Wow! and again Wow!

I was born during the great depression. I am the first of 4 siblings. My brother is 3 years younger then I. My first sister was 8 years younger then I and my youngest sister is 14 years younger then I. My older sister passed away several years ago, may she rest in peace.

Both of my parents passed away several years ago, especially my mother who died at a very young age. I have also lost my wife Claudia of 40 years a little over 3 and a half years ago. Yes I still miss her.

On the up side, I have lived a very eventful life  I am a Korean War Army Veteran. I worked for the Army Security Agency a total of 15 years, which includes the 3 years active duty.

I worked as an Electronics Engineer  in the Electronics Industry(Computers, etc.) for 45 years, usually in the leading edge of electronics the entire time. I got out of the military and went into civilian life hoping to avoid the moving around involved with being an Army Brat.
Well, that didn't work out very well, I did as much or more traveling and moving in civilian life as I did as an Army Brat.

Looking back on my life as a youngster up until my 18th year, I had lived in 4 states, and one foreign country.

As I said above, I have lived a very eventful and a very fulfilling life. I have been married twice, and have 5 daughters, 8 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren. My youngest daughter lives nearby, but the rest of them are scattered from coast to coast and border to border.

There is much to be thankful for with the availability of the internet, since I can keep in touch with family and friends via social media, and email. Thank God for the internet, since it is much cheaper then my Long Distance Phone bill used to be.

I give thanks for my life, and I especially give thanks to my Doctors that have kept me alive over the last 20 years.

God Bless you all from the GA hillbilly.

Does my life count for anything?

Hello World,

I started writing about whether or not my life has meant anything to anybody.

I feel as though I have left my mark in this world. How? you ask? For one thing I have five daughters, and I believe that is one heck of a nice legacy to leave behind. I just wish I could get to see them and the children of those that have children.
You see, my children are scattered all across the country, from the East Coast to the West Coast, and from the Canadian border to the Golf Coast. Of course that goes for my siblings too. In my generation, a significant portion of us moved around the country as our jobs moved around the country.

Since I was an army brat and my parents moved from one posting to another, quite frequently, I swore when I grew up and settled down, that I wouldn't move around like my parents did. Well it certainly didn't work out that way for me, I wound up moving as much or more that my parents did. Which explains why my children are scattered all across the country. My children pretty much chose that part of the country in which they wished to stay.

Currently my wife and I live in Georgia, south of Atlanta in Jonesboro, which is about 30 miles south. We have been living here for almost 20 years now. I stayed here as I didn't want to move somewhere else after retiring from my last job. My youngest daughter and her family live on the north side of Atlanta, which is almost 60 miles from where we live. We do wish they were closer. We just don't get to see them often enough. Of course this same thing is true of our other grandchildren.

I am currently the primary caretaker for my wife Claudia, who unfortunately is an invalid. Her condition is a combination of the ravages of Post Polio Syndrome and a car accident in 1996 that broke her neck. I am happy to be able to take care of her, and doubly happy to still have her around.

I have started a website called "Caretakerextraordinaire.com". It's purpose being to try and start a dialog among the 65 million people in this country that are currently Caretakers or if you prefer Caregivers.

To answer my own question, Yes I believe my life has and still does count for something.

Your comments are welcome.

Yours from the gahillbilly.
