And here is another Birthday!!

I'M CELEBRATING MY 79th BIRTHDAY ON PRESIDENT'S DAY.

Having my birthday fall on President's Day this year is a singular honor. It doesn't happen very often. And no I'm not even going to try and figure out how many times it has happened in my life time.

I look back to when I was born early in the last Century, 1936 to be exact, and I am now 15 years into the 21st Century. Wow! and again Wow!

I was born during the great depression. I am the first of 4 siblings. My brother is 3 years younger then I. My first sister was 8 years younger then I and my youngest sister is 14 years younger then I. My older sister passed away several years ago, may she rest in peace.

Both of my parents passed away several years ago, especially my mother who died at a very young age. I have also lost my wife Claudia of 40 years a little over 3 and a half years ago. Yes I still miss her.

On the up side, I have lived a very eventful life  I am a Korean War Army Veteran. I worked for the Army Security Agency a total of 15 years, which includes the 3 years active duty.

I worked as an Electronics Engineer  in the Electronics Industry(Computers, etc.) for 45 years, usually in the leading edge of electronics the entire time. I got out of the military and went into civilian life hoping to avoid the moving around involved with being an Army Brat.
Well, that didn't work out very well, I did as much or more traveling and moving in civilian life as I did as an Army Brat.

Looking back on my life as a youngster up until my 18th year, I had lived in 4 states, and one foreign country.

As I said above, I have lived a very eventful and a very fulfilling life. I have been married twice, and have 5 daughters, 8 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren. My youngest daughter lives nearby, but the rest of them are scattered from coast to coast and border to border.

There is much to be thankful for with the availability of the internet, since I can keep in touch with family and friends via social media, and email. Thank God for the internet, since it is much cheaper then my Long Distance Phone bill used to be.

I give thanks for my life, and I especially give thanks to my Doctors that have kept me alive over the last 20 years.

God Bless you all from the GA hillbilly.

Happy Birthday Claudia.

Today, Claudia would have been 68 years old. It was one year ago today that I held the memorial service in honor of her leaving us to be by the side of Jesus. Tigger has joined her and I'm sure he is on her lap being petted just like he used to be when both were with us at home.

I loved to present her with a birthday card and usually some jewelry. Claudia always loved beautiful jewelry, especially the eye catching flashy kind, and she wore it so well. Typically I would buy a ready made cake, as I was never very successful at baking cakes. Why? well they usually came out lopsided, or crooked, or some kind of messy. When it was still possible for her to get in and out of the Van I would take her out to dinner. She always loved hearing from her family, including her parents, her siblings and of course her daughter.

During the last 5 years or so, it became harder and harder to celebrate because her Post Polio Syndrome kept getting worse and worse, and more painful all the time. Both of us knew it was only a matter of time before the PPS would ultimately take her away from us.

God I still miss her. God Bless you darling as you now live by Jesus side with no pain. Thank you for the 40 lovely years you gave to me, to Elizabeth, and to all of your friends and family. You are missed by one and all.
Amen, Your husband Vic.

A lovely dinner was had by all.

Elizabeth and her family come to our house yesterday to fix Claudia a dinner for her birthday. Claudia wanted Crab legs, so Elizabeth went to the store and came back with dinner.

She fixed boiled crab legs, roasted asparagus and brussel sprouts, linguine Alfredo with baby portabello mushrooms and some scallops. Elizabeth has become an amazing cook.

It was refreshing to have our daughter and her family sitting down to dinner with us, just delightful. Thank you Elizabeth and Daecon for being here.

Oh! yes I did the dishes. Now this doesn't sound like much, except that our dishwasher broke down a couple of months ago and we haven't been able to afford a new one, or to fix the one we have. I guess I will break down and fix it myself. I do have the ability to do so.

God Bless us all

It's Monday, the start of a new week.

It's Monday, the start of a new week. Yesterday I removed the stitches from my thumb. The area looks very rough, but it is healing, and the swelling has gone down quite a bit.

It's hard to believe that it is the middle of the year already. June 15 is also my youngest daughters birthday. She turns 30 something today.

She and her husband and 2 children will celebrate somehow today. Unfortunately Claudia and I can't be there to help her celebrate. We have no way of transporting Claudia from point to point as she requires a van with either a ramp or a lift suitable for a power wheel chair.

In fact, we rarely go anywhere because of lack of transport.

life does go on.
