2009 has not been one of our better years. At the beginning of the year I worked at Jackson Hewitt doing taxes. It wasn't very lucrative at all. I barely received enough recompense to pay for my transportation and my meals while at work. Then in March while taking Claudia to the pain clinic she was thrown out of her power chair onto her face. Her leg caught in the foot rest and snapped her leg above the knee. Of course we called 911 and hauled her off to the hospital. To make a long story short she had to be operated on and a steel rod stuck in the bone in order to fix it. Claudia now has to sleep in a hospital bed and I have been relegated to a single bed. We were sharing a king size bed, but that can no longer be. In fact Claudia must now have help to get in and out of bed. She can still manage to go to the bathroom by herself. Also, she can no longer walk even with the help of crutches or a walker.
Also, I can't leave her alone for more then a couple of hours at a time. She is totally housebound since we have no transport available for her and her power chair. In fact we have to hire transportation in order to take her anywhere.
I think I will stop for now. Continuing on; if it weren't for the help of Claudia's family and some of our friends we would be in a lot worse shape then we are. I had to go into the hospital my self. I had to get another stent put in, this one made it about 15 stents so far.
Another major milestone this year is Claudia is now on medicare. This took place in September as her birthday was on the 9th of that month. She is also signed up for Medicare Part D prescription coverage, and we have purchase supplemental insurance for her. With both her and my supplemental and part D coverage it makes it even more difficult to make ends meet.
We pray that this year will be a much better year for us. I think we deserve it.
So to all a Happy New Year and a Very Merry Christmas.
God Bless the gahillbilly.
