Assessing a recently begun friendship.
It's been about 3 months since I met a woman and began a friendship with her. Her name is Marjan. I met her in a Firehouse Sub Restaurant. Each of us was sitting alone have a sandwich. I said hello and jokingly asked her if she would go out with me. Much to my surprise, she said yes.
We conversed for a while and exchanged phone numbers. Since that time we have gotten together several times for either lunch or dinner. I never know when, because she works for carmax and her hours are erratic and constantly changing. On many an evening, she will call me while she drives home from work, asking me to talk her home. Usually, she does most of the talking.
In fact, I have a hard time saying anything as she talks a mile a minute. No matter whether we are dining or we are just talking, it is hard for me to get a word in edgewise.
Having said all that this relationship is not at all a romantic one. It is strictly a friendship, and I am happy for it to be that way.
On the other hand, I have to wonder if she is using me for therapy. The reason I say that is because she is just 70 years old and still having to work full time to keep home and hearth intact.
It appears to me, that she is trying to decide what she should do about her situation. I am not being more specific on purpose because it is not the publics need to know.
I, however, like having her as my friend and will therefor continue my association with her. Marjan is a forthright person and as far as I can tell an honest one.
Thank you God for leading me to someone that helps me put some perspective back into my life.
Thank you Claudia(may you rest in peace) for being understanding. God Bless us All. Amen.
