ON PAYING BILLS AND
TRACKING MY ACCOUNTS.
It seems that I have allowed today's digital age to distract me from keeping a proper set of books. My bank has made it easy for me to pay my bills on line. So I don't have to write checks, no envelopes, no stamps, no trips to the Post Office. No receipts to worry about.
Interlude: I know a large number of older people that don't use a computer, and don't ever want to learn. My father was a prime example of a violent opponent of using a computer.

My financial affairs are currently in a mess and if I could afford an accountant, I would hire one. (Even though I dislike accountants, as a profession) However, since I can't afford one, I am going to have to do it myself. I used to use spiral bound lined book to do my accounts, but I think I am going to have to set up something a bit more sophisticated. Which begs the question: What is it I should do?
I ask this question because I have found that computers do break down and when they do, if you haven't backed up all of your information, you lose it. This is especially true if your hard drive crashes. Quite often when that happens the data is irretrievable.
Therefore, I am quite frankly afraid to do and keep my financial information on a computer. I had three computers fully operational here at home. Now in the space of one week, two of the computers (desk top) have quit on me. One needs a replacement power supply and the other needs a new mother board.
This leaves me with one laptop computer, which is actually a bit whompy. So I'm a little leery of using it for important private information.

Methinks some research is in order. I also have a great deal of thinking to do.
