FIRE

Well folks, I and my wife rang in the new year (2007) with the sound of sirens, bells, smoke, fire, and red, blue, orange, and white lights blinking, flashing, and otherwise creating a hell of a lot of noise and confusion.

The house next door to us was on fire. Yes there were people living there, but thank God no one was hurt, they have just been displaced because part of their roof, ceiling, and attic has been burned out. By the way this started happening at about five minutes after midnight. The really sad part about this, is that the folks just moved in the week after Christmas. I don't even know who they are, where they are from, how many are in the family, just nothing at all.
Sad isn't it.

Neither do I know if these folks bought the house or are just renting it. The house has been up for sale, but that doesn't mean anything these days. The house sat empty for several months, so the owner may have decided to rent it, in order to pay the mortgage.

The fire apparently started in the fireplace after the new tenants started a fire in the fireplace. This was probably a big mistake, because in the 15 years I have been living here that house has never had a fire in the fire place. So there could have been over 15 years worth of debri, bird's nests, squirral droppings, and whatever in the chimney.

This is not the way to start a new year.

In spite of everything HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL.

The best of everything from the gahillbilly.
