How I came to Jesus.
I'm not sure when I came to Jesus. I remember as a child going to Lutheran Churches whenever we could. Problem: (with my Dad being a career officer meant we moved around a lot.)
What I can remember is when I got so very sick while in Teletype School in Ft. Monmouth, New Jersey. I, of course, was in the Army at the time, just 19 years old.
It happened in the morning while falling in for roll call at 6:00am. the Company Sergeant called for anybody needing sick call to fall out and report to the dispensary, which I did. I had to walk across a parade ground to the dispensary and I was NOT feeling good at all. When I got inside the dispensary I collapsed and passed out. I woke up in a tub full of alcohol and ice. This dropped my temperature, as I was told later from a fever 106 degrees. As soon as my temperature dropped to normal I was dried off and place on the bed and a very large needle full of penicillin shot in my ass.
I am not sure when this happened but while I was in the hospital I remember going into a white light and seeing who I thought was Jesus, anyway whoever he was told me, "Victor, it isn't time for you to enter heaven, you must return, you have too much to do."
Shortly after experiencing that I was once again waking up in a tub full of alcohol and ice.
I was told later that this cycle continued for 10 days before my temp. came down and stayed down. It turns out I had pharyngitis, a really bad case of it.
This stay in the hospital put me two weeks behind my original class, so I was placed in a new class of men that were in the same position in class that I had fallen sick in. Anyway I finished in the top of my class and was promoted to PFC and given orders to got to Fort Devon's, Massachusetts, to begin Cryptographic Equipment repair class.
Needless to say, I was and still am a believer and follower of Jesus. Thank you Lord. Amen.
